Walking through San Francisco

This week we are going back to America, on the West Coast, to be more specific in an wonderful city named San Francisco.

I have to confess that this is one of my favourite city in America. Why? Maybe because is not similar with other big and famous cities from there. It has something special, a special air. It reminds me of Europe. I love Europe! But, now I write about this piece of heaven from America.

San Francisco is pretty similar with the beautiful sea side cities from Italy, it gives to you a very cozy feeling, it is stylish and coquette.  At least, this is how I felt it.

We were so lucky! The weather was so nice, sunny, sunny and again sunny! Just lovely! Even though it is sunny, you have to pay attention to the temperatures. Because of the winds sometimes is pretty chili and in the evening is really cold, I felt it.

If you were looking at the other tourists to see what you were supposed to wear you’ll never find out the truth, because some of them had shorts and t-shirts and others had coats and hats. So, my advice for you is to take a warmer coat with you, so you can enjoy the beauty of this city.

What we have done and loved in this city.

  1. First stop was at Golden Gate Bridge. The bridge has been declared one of the modern wonders of the world. It was opened in 1937 and at that time it was the longest suspension bridge ever created. Also, it is one of the most-photographed sights in the world. You can also drive across it or bike over it. Other people just take a walk on it—which is the best way to get a real feel for its size. The Golden Gate Bridge is open to auto and bicycle traffic 24 hours a day and to pedestrians during daylight hours. It is wonderful to see and picture it.
  2. Next Stop was at Fisherman’s Wharf. An area full of hungry tourist the are really excited to eat fresh sea food, because here you can experience some fantastic food and enjoy some of the best dining the world has to offer. We ate cream crab soup served in bread. It was great! Also, the ones that are looking for souvenirs and gifts this is the right place! There are a lot of nice things, I loved the most the pijamas that were like prisoniers clothes. This area is also famous for its sourdough bread, which is delicious! This is pretty similar with the french baguette, is so good, but here is like something very special, because the bread you find in supermarket in America, in general, is sweet.
  3. In the same area, onther point of attraction on the sea side is Pier 39. In general, what you’ll find at Pier 39 are restaurants and souvenir shops, but the biggest attraction here are the sea lions. They are a lot of them just standing in the sun and do nothing. Are adorable! From this point you have the best view to Alcatraz.
  4. And finally the most famous prison in the world: Alcatraz! The place that is present in so many movies. From where everyone wanted to escape, today is the place where everyone wants to go and visit. This is the place where Al Capone was a prisonier. You can get there by boat. This is the official web site from were you can buy tickets, the only one: alcatrazcruises.com.
  5. After the seaport walking we went to visit the city. The most interesting thing that we have done was to Ride a Cable Car.A cable car ride is definitely a bucket list thing to do for many people. Iconic, fun, and uniquely San Francisco, the cable cars are often called the city’s moving landmark. It was very funny but this ride was actually the way of getting in the cable car. There were so many rude tourists that were jumping in the car, so you didn’t have the time to do that. In the end, after some time, we were in the cable car and worth it!
  1. Union Square. If you love shopping this is the right place, here you find a lot of stores that you might like. Also, if you want just to stay and watch people, you can relax here. We were so lucky because there was a party with jazz music in open air, right there. Everyone was dressed up nice and they were dancing, was so lovely to be part of that. I understood that there took place many events like that.
  2. China Town. As I said many times in my articles, you find a china town in each important town in the world. So you can enjoy Chinese goodies everywhere. San Francisco’s Chinatown is one of the largest Chinese communities outside the country of China.
  3. The Lombard Street. It is one of the most famous streets in San Francisco because it has a section with eight sharp turns and a roadway flanked by colorful flowers. It is wonderful, but always full of tourists. Is nicer to look at this than drive on it.
  4. A walk on the beach. Ocean Beach is a beautiful quiet beach with gorgeous white sand and very few tourists. Beside all the beauties in San Francisco this is a very nice place to relax. When I think about it is like I dreamed about it.

Amazing scenery, good food, street artist, seaport, beach, sounds great!

This is what we have done in San Francisco. It was great, a lovely place where I would like to go back as soon as possible. It is wonderful only to walk around the streets and breathe that fresh air.
