Walking around Venice

Venice is the city of love, of romantic walks, where the arts surprise you at each step and you are surrounded by culture. Wonderful! About Venice I can say that it made me feel so much, I had mixed feelings: huge joy, melancholy and wonder. First of all Venice means Italy and I love Italy! Yeah! Each time I arrive there I feel like I am in a story, or a movie or a theater play. It just left me breathless.

I was so happy to be in Venice, to get lost on the narrow streets, to admire that amazing scenery, to play with the carnival masks and to wish for another pair of legs to be able to walk more and more.

This city it is gorgeous, you can’t be disappointed.

  1. First on our list was Piazza San Marco. It is placed in the heart of Venice and is unique in the world. Napoleon described this square as “the most beautiful Hall of Europe.” Once you get there you can admire the San Marco’s Church and his amazing mosaics. While we were admiring all the beauty from this square we made some new friends, some little friends, actually, pigeons. They are so lovely and gentle.
  2. On the right of the church it is Torre dell’Orologio. A clock tower, built in 1499 of which latin inscription says „I count only the happy hours!”.
  3. In this square you cand find the Doge Palace. This is the place where the Venice’s secrets are hidden. You can admire the exterior made of pink marble but if you want to find out more about the wonders left by many artist, sculptors and arhitects you need to take a tour inside the palace.
  4. In Piazza San Marco it is the Campanile Tower. It is 98.5 m height and it offers you the best view of the city and the islands around.
  5. In this area are a lot of coffee shops and restaurants with live music that perfectly crown the fairytale atmosphere. Here you can relax and meditate about surroundings. As I said earlier, you can also play with pigeons. They gave me so much joy. Piazza San Marco is wonderful!
  6. After you saw everything that was possible to see in Piazza San Marco, you can easily get lost on the narrow streets. It feels fantastic just to walk around and admire the architecture or find the souvenirs you are looking for. The streets are full of nice shops and restaurants where you can do whatever you want.
  7. A ride with Gondola! This is extremely romantic and it worth it. Discover Venice from an entirely new perspective: from the canals themselves, comfortably seated in your own gondola.
  8. Bridges of Venice. Each bridge it is a good opportunity for a nice photo and the 435 bridges that exists I am sure that you’ll find the one for you. The most popular it is Rialto Bridge. It is the oldest Bridge in Venice and connects the San Marco district with San Polo. It crosses the Grand Canal.

This was our experience in Venice. I really hope that someday I’ll be in Venice for the Carnival to enjoy the color explosion, the masks, a lot of theater and culture. Venice is always an opportunity in that way, because here you’ll always find an interesting theater play or concert that you’ll want no to miss it. Venice needs to be felt.
